BIG BAND BLAST 2020
Big Band Blast is a conference style festival run by musicians for musicians.
Launched in 2013, Blast is the brainchild of drummer and big band leader John Morrison and is run by John and big band singer, Jacki Cooper.
The 7th Big Band Blast is shaping up to be the best one yet and we hope you can come and join in the fun.
Big Band Blast, Australia's ultimate Big Band festival, is a conference event open to big bands of all genres, ages, and abilities. Held in beautiful Port Macquarie across 3 days from May 29th to 31st 2020, band registration includes performances by up to 35 participating big bands across 4 stages, jam sessions, workshops with guest clinicians, feature performances by premier guest bands, a crazy street parade, "Tribute to Quincy Jones" concert night, with special guest performers.
With Panthers Club on board as our host and major sponsor, there will be 3 performance stages - Auditorium, Paws Lounge and a great outdoor stage, The Balcony - and 3 workshop stages that will run workshops on both Saturday and Sunday.
Blast kicks off at 6pm Friday night with a concert in the Panthers Auditorium, followed by The Big Band Jam with Ed Wilson - a great chance for everyone to have an informal blow, test their sight-reading, and meet new friends.
The Bandemonium performance stages run on Saturday from 9.30am til 5pm. Every band has a 1 hour stage spot - all backline and stands are provided. Various workshops will run concurrently throughout the day.
Saturday night concert will feature our special guests performing with a professional big band.
Sunday morning begins with our Street Parade - charts are provided ahead of time. Crazy Hats are mandatory!
More Bandemonium and workshops then a wrap up concert featuring our guest artists before everyone hits the road to home by 2.30pm.
Big Band Blast is a conference style festival that is fun by musicians for musicians. Access All Areas passes will be $85 per person or $1500 for groups of 20.
Accommodation is arranged by each band with many options are available in Port Macquarie.
